Galleria Massimo Minini is one of the most established contemporary art galleries in Italy, playing an important role in the contemporary art scene. Initially under the name Banco, for nearly 50 years the gallery has been collaborating with conceptual, arte povera, minimal and figurative artists, including Anish Kapoor, Vanessa Beecroft, Daniel Buren and Haris Epaminonda.
For Galleria Massimo Minini Siliqoon developed a scroll-based website featuring a variable font, in turn creating an online liquid identity. The typeface morphs as you scroll the exhibition timebar, from Maxmin Sans Serif – which we built from the open font Tex Gyre Heros – into font Simoncini Garamond – a version of the antique font Garamond, redesigned by Francesco Simoncini in 1958.
The website was especially designed to incorporate the gallery’s extensive exhibition archive; Compiling hundreds of shows and off site projects, dating back to 1973, thus requiring clear archive access and effortless content transitions facilitated by the clever use of scroll – the fonts mutate, flowing with the progression of history, with hidden special content updated on a monthly basis, for those who look with a keen eye.
